*Disclaimer - Going to be really honest here*
I am the type of person who gets my mind set on change and it will last about a week or so then I revert back to my usual self. Some examples: Making our bed every day, daily devotions, working out daily/weekly, giving up caffeine, etc.
I will be honest, I lack self-discipline! I set out with a grand goal of creating new habits and I always fail miserably. I desire to be a person who excels at having self-discipline but how do I get there? Will I grow into it? Will I always struggle with it? Or maybe I am just missing that gene.
I would love to hear some feedback from you. Am I the only one who struggles with this? What do you do to create and maintain good habits?

I can totally relate! I am so good at beginnings - starting devotions, bible studies, starting reading the bible in 90 days (which I did yesterday), starting to exercise. It's the middles and endings that I struggle with as well. My only suggestion is maybe try and determine what's keeping you from continuing things you start...it's a daily thing for me. That and prayer. Ask God to show you what's holding you back.

ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth I really appreciate your response! I am glad I am not alone. :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh... I just typed as nice long response for ya, but lost it somehow. Don't worry, one thing at a time. You'll get it. I struggle with the exact same things. Maybe I'll grow up somday??
ReplyDeleteI hate it when that happens! Thank you so much for your encouraging words. There are days when I can get so down on myself but to know that I am not the only one gives me strength not to give up. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteStacy-
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate. Something that has helped me as of late: A friend and I decided to set an exercise goal for ourselves...for 30 days. And then keep each other accountable. In order to eliminate excuses on why we didn't do our goal one day or another we said that if one of us failed to do the goal we both had to start the 30 days over again! We also set an incentive for the end of the 30 days...now we are on to making new goals for the next 4 weeks. It's been very helpful. As for giving up caffeine...can't help you there - I'm totally addicted!!
Good luck! Hope to see you soon! Maybe at Malibu?
